My name is Paige, I started Xterior after I moved from Chicago to LA. I was about 22 years old when I launched my first two products.

 

I grew up always wanting to be in the health care industry. When I was in high school I had the opportunity to do a CNA program which I loved. I had so much fun meeting patients and hearing life stories that I would have never believed to be true. When I got to college and started going on with my Gen-Ed's, I knew I needed to do something a little distant from the field I was going into. I ended up going to an Aesthetic School. It gave me the opportunity to continue to learn about many different people and what there differences were. I could get the feeling of when people wanted someone to talk to, have a person to listen to them, or if they just wanted to relax. I learned so much from each and every individual I got to talk to or I had the chance to learn about myself from the silence. This schooling really helped me learn who I was and got me to be where I am today. 

 

When I finished schooling in Chicago and was looking for my first “real job” I had an amazing opportunity to work for a dermatologist. I was given the opportunity to really learn to do what I love to do, which is help people love themselves. I got to do the highest level of what I was legally allowed to do and watch procedures that I never would have thought I would see in the first year of my career. Anything I was allowed to assist in I got the opportunity. I could not wait to continue to grow.

 

I moved to Los Angeles after my first year of working for my first dermatologist. It was a culture shock. I was still doing the job I loved but, the laws are different in each state. I couldn’t do as much as I did when I first learned so,  I felt I was going downhill. The new doctor I was working for gave me new opportunities, but not how I had them back in Chicago. 

 

I knew it was time for a change after a few months…

 

I wanted to be happy doing my own thing, not having someone to tell me what to do. I went over everything I learned in school and everything I learned from the doctors I worked for. I had to do ingredient training in school and it was always something that stuck with me. Both doctors realized that when I helped my patients find what was best for them. I made a big decision on what my next step was going to be, I wanted my own products. 

 

I sat morning after morning learning about what I needed in products for all the ingredients to work together without harming those using it. I knew I wanted to start smaller so that I could get my hands in the industry. I picked who I was targeting and did my research. 

 

“But who helped you?”

 

That is always the main question that clients, patients, friends, and family always ask. It’s one that no one ever avoids asking and I’m proud to answer it. My mom helped me. She has always been my biggest supporter when I wanted to quit doing what I was good at, when I wanted something unrealistic, when I wanted a big change for such a young person, she was the one who supported it. When I told her this is what I wanted she was more than happy to help me. In fact the second I told her about my dream to start my own skin care company she pushed until I wouldn’t give up.

 

My whole family has been extremely supportive of my dreams and future. What else can a young girl ask for other than support and success!
